Huskies Even Series With 5-2 Win
March 30, 2018 | Baseball, Features
LOS ANGELES – The USC baseball team fell to Washington 5-2 on Friday as the Huskies got 7.1 strong innings from starter Joe DeMers.
USC falls to 13-10 overall and 3-5 in Pac-12 play with the loss, while Washington moves to 12-11 overall and 5-3 in conference action.
The Trojans scored twice off of DeMers in the first inning, getting a two-run double from Dillon Paulson, but that was it for the rest of the day. Washington would come right back in the top of the second, loading the bases and scoring twice to even the game. The Huskies would plate the go-ahead run on an RBI double by Levi Jordan in the fifth inning, and then get a two-run single from Joe Wainhouse in the seventh.
DeMers gave up six hits and struck out six to get the win. USC left two runners on in both the third and sixth innings, but never mounted the late rally they needed. Seven different Trojans notched the team's seven hits on the day.
