The Women of Troy Take on Oregon at Home and Baylor in the Desert

THIS WEEK
USC returns to Marks Stadium to face the Ducks on Friday (Mar. 16), and then travels to Indian Wells, Calif. to challenge Baylor on Saturday (March 17) at the BNP Paribas Open Collegiate Tennis Challenge presented by Oracle.Â
ORACLE/ITA RANKINGS UPDATES
After a tough bout in the Bay Area losing to both California and Stanford, the Women of Troy dropped out of the most recent Oracle/ITA Division I National Rankings released on Tuesday (March 13). Senior Gabby Smith remains USC's only nationally ranked single player securing the No. 37 spot. Smith is 17-11 on the season with four wins against singles opponents in the Top 14. In doubles, the Trojan tandem of Angela Kulikov and Rianna Valdes hold the No. 43 position. The duo is 7-4 throughout the course of the season.Â
SCOUTING OREGON
The Oregon Ducks are ranked No. 20 in the national rankings, and have two doubles pairs that boast rankings: No. 18 Sangwan/Tobita and No. 61 Eshet/Sangwan. The Ducks are 10-4 overall and 1-1 in conference. Last weekend, Oregon defeated Washington 5-2 on March 9, but lost to Washington State 4-3 on March 11. The Trojans are 21-1 all-time in their series with Oregon dating back to 1997.
SCOUTING BAYLOR
The Baylor Bears rank No. 28 in the Oracle/ITA National Rankings, but do not have any ranked singles or doubles players. They are 8-8 overall and 0-2 in the Big 12 Conference. The Bears lost to Kansas 4-1 on March 12 and fell to Kansas State 4-3 on March 13. USC is 3-5 all-time against Baylor with their first match occuring in 2006.
MAKE-UP MATCH
With an opening in their schedule due the cancellation of the March 2 match against UCLA, the Trojans have added another match in the month of March. USC will take on No. 2 Pepperdine on March 21 at 3:30 p.m at Marks Stadium.Â
