LOS ANGELES – USC Women's Soccer Associate Head Coach Jen Klein will be accepting the head coaching position at Michigan, the school announced today.
Klein leaves the Trojans with an impressive legacy of success over the last four years, helping the program to a National Championship in 2016 and an overall record 71-19-9 during her tenure.
"I couldn't be more proud of or happy for my friend Jen Klein as she takes on the responsibility of head coach of the University of Michigan," said USC Head Coach Keidane McAlpine, who also worked with Klein at Washington State. "She's a fantastic human being and wonderful coach who I am sure will impact the lives of the women in her program greatly. We have been fortunate enough to experience tremendous success together on the sideline and I know that is a tradition she will carry with her at Michigan. She will be missed, but will always be family."
"I want to thank USC, especially my head coach, Keidane McAlpine," said Klein in the Michigan press release announcing her hiring. "They have been so supportive through the process, and I wish the department and the team great success."
Klein served as USC's recruiting coordinator during her time with the program and was the team's associate head coach for the last three years after being promoted following her first year with the Trojans.
Klein is also an assistant coach with the U.S. Soccer U19 women's national team, and is currently with the U18 program for games in La Manga, Spain against England, The Netherlands and Norway. She plans to start with the Wolverines on March 12.
