Smith Gilbert Interview on 'Trojans Live'

USC Director of Track & Field Caryl Smith Gilbert was named the 2018 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Men's and Women's Coach of the Year and Rai Benjamin was named the 2018 MPSF Men's Athlete of the Meet, it was announced by the conference on Feb. 27.

Smith Gilbert guided both the USC men's and women's teams to conference titles on Feb. 23-24 in Seattle, Wash. The women's team won the conference title for the fourth time in five seasons in the league and the men's team won for the second time in three seasons. USC's men won five individual titles and the women's team won four individual titles.

Benjamin won the men's 400m dash with a PR, track and meet-record time of 45.94. It was his first 400m race of the indoor season and beat his previous best by more than a second. His time ranks 11^th in the country and he also ranks sixth in the 200m with a time of 20.55.
