Longan is Player of Week and Hauschild is Newcomer of the Week after USC’s winning weekend.
Following USC's run to a fifth straight Triton Invitational championship, which was capped off by a win over UCLA in the title match, the Trojans have picked up a sweep of the MPSF's weekly awards. Junior goalie Amanda Longan locked up her first career MPSF Player of the Week honor, while freshman Paige Hauschild now has her second MPSF Newcomer of the Week award.
Amanda Longan amassed 23 saves in two games during USC's run to the Triton Invitational championship. In the title match against UCLA, Longan blocked a 5-meter penalty shot in the first half and made four saves in the fourth period en route to a final count of 11 saves in the 6-4 championship victory. In group play the previous day, Longan had 12 saves and allowed just two goals in the first period before shutting out #18 San Diego State for the final three periods in a final 14-2 USC win to advance to the semifinals.
Paige Hauschild was USC's top scorer with 12 goals at the Triton Invitational, including two in USC's win over UCLA in the final. She also scored twice in the 7-5 semifinal win over UC Irvine and rounded out that final day going 8-for-8 on opening sprints. On day one, Hauschild scored four goals in a 13-1 win over Sonoma State and scored four more in a 14-2 win over San Diego State to secure USC's spot in the semifinals.
