LOS ANGELES – Highlighted by Ally Prisock's nod on the first team, four Trojans were named to Top Drawer Soccer Best XI teams with the release of the outlet's postseason awards this week.
Along with Prisock, Kaylie Collins garnered second team recognition and Leah Pruitt was named to the third team. Penelope Hocking drew freshman first team honors after her stellar first season for the Trojans. The Top Drawer Soccer Best XI teams are basically the equivalent of All-American honors, which Prisock, Collins and Pruitt all earned as well this season.
Prisock has already earned First-Team All-American recognition to go along with her All Pac-12 and All-Pacific Region first team honors, and she was a semifinalist for the prestigious MAC Hermann Trophy this year. Starting every game for USC, she lead a Trojan backline that notched 15 shutouts, the second most in program history, and helped USC give up just 11 goals all season en route to the best goal differential (57-11) in program history. The senior also scored a goal and had an assist on the season. She wrapped up an all-time great USC career this year, setting the program mark for career starts at 90 after starting every game of her four-year tenure. Prisock also earned Top Drawer Soccer Best XI third team honors last year. She was just the third Trojan in program history to earn All-American first team status earlier this year.
Collins adds the Best XI honor to an already impressive list of accolades following her redshirt sophomore season. She was named the Pac-12 Goalkeeper of the Year this season, and also earned All-American second team, All Pac-12 first team and All-Region first team recognition. Collins finished the year with 10 solo-shutouts, tied for the fourth most in program history and the 11th most in the country this season. She became the second Trojan to win Pac-12 Goalkeeper of the Year after leading the league in shutouts through the regular season and posting the ninth best goals against average (0.506) in the NCAA. Collins now has 17 shutouts for her career, putting her fourth on the Trojans' career list.
Pruitt also was named to the All-American third team as well as the All-Pacific Region and All Pac-12 first teams this year. The senior forward was second on the team in points, with 33 after scoring 12 goals and posting nine assists. Her 12 goals were tied for fourth in the Pac-12 and nine assists were good for sixth. She also led the league and was ninth in the nation with six game-winning goals this year. She wraps up an all-time great USC career tied for fifth on the all-time USC assists list with 21, tied for 10th with 22 goals scored and sixth on the game-winning goals list with 10. Pruitt was named to the All Pac-12 second team last year and, prior to transferring to USC, was the Mountain West Freshman of the Year in 2015.
Hocking wrapped up one of the best rookie seasons in program history with this week's Best XI nod, adding to an already impressive haul that includes Pac-12 Freshman of the Year, All-Pacific Region second team and All Pac-12 second team. She led USC and the Pac-12 with 14 goals scored, tied for the second most ever by a Trojan. Hocking also notched six assists on the season and finished third in the Pac-12 with 34 total points. She scored three game-winning goals and notched points in all but seven contests this year for the Trojans.
