LOS ANGELES – Head Coach Dan Hubbs announced the 2019 USC baseball schedule this week as the Trojans are set to open the season on Feb. 15.
The 56 game slate features seven teams that made the NCAA Tournament last year and three that were in the College World Series, including both of the teams from the championship final, Arkansas and Oregon State.
Home Slate
The Trojans open at home, starting a three-game series against Nebraska-Omaha on Feb. 15. USC's first 13 games of the season will be at home and overall 32 of the team's 56 games this season will be played at Dedeaux Field.
The Trojans host Pac-12 series against UCLA (March 29-30), Arizona State (April 5-7), Washington State (April 18-20), Stanford (May 3-5) and Oregon (May 17-19). In addition to the season-opening series against Nebraska-Omaha, USC has non-conference series scheduled against national runner-up Arkansas (Feb. 21-23) and Grand Canyon (March 1-3).
USC will also once again host the Dodgertown Classic in conjunction with UCLA, with Oklahoma State (March 8) and Michigan (March 9) coming to Dedeaux Field. The Trojans will face UCLA on March 10 at Dodger Stadium, with the Cowboys and Wolverines playing earlier in the day at Chavez Ravine.
The Trojans have midweek home games slated against UC Santa Barbara (Feb. 26), Loyola Marymount (March 5), Long Beach State (March 9), Cal State Fullerton (April 9), Pepperdine (April 16) and UC Irvine.
Road Slate
Following the matchup with UCLA at Dodger Stadium, the Trojans will play their first true road game when they head to Cal State Fullerton on March 12. USC also has midweek road games against Long Beach State (March 26), UC Santa Barbara (April 2), Loyola Marymount (May 14) and UC Irvine (May 21).
USC hits the road for five Pac-12 series as well, traveling to Cal (March 15-17), Washington (March 22-24), Utah (April 11-13), Arizona (May 10-12) and then the team closes the regular season at defending national champs Oregon State (May 23-25). The Trojans' lone non-conference road series will be at Cal Poly (April 26-28).
Strength of Schedule
As mentioned, USC has seven tournament teams on its schedule, including Oregon State, Arkansas and Washington, which all made the College World Series last year. Oklahoma State, Cal State Fullerton, UCLA and Stanford were also tournament teams. Six Trojan opponents were ranked in the final NCBWA Top 30 of the season (No. 1 Oregon State, No. 4 Arkansas, No. 14 Cal State Fullerton, No. 17 Washington, No. 18 Stanford, No. 26 UCLA) and 14 opponents finished last season with winning records.
