Trojans Fall in Second Rounds of Oracle ITA National Fall Championships

Three Trojans took to the courts at the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships in Surprise, Ariz. and each made it to the second round of their respective competitions. The No. 5 Freshman/Newcomer in the country, Salma Ewing fell in the Round of 32 in singles, while No. 8 seeded Angela Kulikov/Rianna Valdes reached the Round of 16 in doubles where they unfortunately lost to end their progression to a title.
Ewing battled through tight matches the entire tournament as she defeated Michigan's Chiara Lommer 7-5, 4-6, 7-6 (2) in the Round of 64, but fell in another extremely close match to Purdue's Silvia Ambrosio 2-6, 6-4, 7-6 (5).
In the doubles competition, Kulikov/Valdes entered with the No. 8 seed and defeated Denver's duo of Nelson/Ladhani with a swift 6-2, 6-2 score. In the Round of 16, the Trojan pair fell to South Carolina's Horvit-Ingrid/Martins in a tight match with a final score of 4-6, 7-6 (7), 1-0 (4).
This event concludes the fall tournament season for the Women of Troy. USC's dual-match season will begin in January 2019.
