That’s Three! Hannes Daube Collects A Third MPSF Newcomer of the Week Award

USC’s streak continues with five consecutive Newcomer of the Week honors from the conference.
USC freshman Hannes Daube has now claimed three of the Trojans' five MPSF Newcomer of the Week awards, making it five consecutive weeks that USC has locked up conference honors. In order to lay claim to his third selection, Daube scored eight goals in two games last week, topping out with six goals – the most by a Trojan this season – in an MPSF road match at Stanford.
Daube scored four of those six goals in the second half at Stanford, keying a USC rally to get within one goal after trailing by five late in the third. Daube scored all three of USC's goals in the fourth period to make it 12-11 Stanford before the Cardinal struck late for a 13-11 final win. The next day against San José State, Daube scored twice in a 16-5 USC win.
Daube is now third on the team in scoring with 31 goals to date. He and the 18-1 Trojans head back to Palo Alto this week to do battle at the Mountain Pacific Invitational, running Oct. 12-14 at Stanford's Avery Aquatic Center. In addition to Daube's three MPSF Newcomer of the Week awards, freshman goalies Sam Krutonog and Nic Porter have also earned the honor this season so far.
