McQuin Baron Captures MPSF Player of the Week Honors

Trojan goalie is just 12 saves away from taking over as USC’s all-time saves leader.
USC senior goalie McQuin Baron made a strong stand in the Trojans' home opener last week, going big against No. 3 Stanford to haul in a huge MPSF win while also helping to earn himself selection as the MPSF Player of the Week. He's the first Trojan to win the award this season, claiming his fourth Player of the Week pick in his career.
Against the Cardinal last week, Baron posted 12 saves, including a huge 5-meter penalty stop in the third period, to secure an 8-6 MPSF victory for the Trojans. Baron also made five steals vs. the Cardinal. In a doubleheader at the Inland Empire Classic two days later, Baron checked in for the first half of wins over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and host Redlands, allowing only a single goal while making five saves vs. the Stags and two vs. the Bulldogs.
In adding 19 more saves to his career total, Baron put himself just 12 saves away from taking over as USC's all-time saves leader. He now holds 844 career saves to follow current leader Joel Dennerley's 855. Dennerley has been the program record holder since setting it early in his 2011 senior season.
Baron and the Trojans are headed to the Aggie Roundup, hosted by UC Davis, this coming weekend. There, USC will face Cal Baptist and MIT on Saturday (Sept. 16) and then Santa Clara and Long Beach State on Sunday (Sept. 17).
