Junior defender Ally Prisock named to the watch list for the prestigious award.
LOS ANGELES - Junior defender Ally Prisock was named to the watch list for the prestigious 2017 MAC Hermann Trophy Award, the United Soccer Coaches and the Missouri Athletic Committee announced today. The award is given to the nation's top collegiate male and female soccer players annually. 30 women were named to the watch list on Tuesday, including seven from the Pac-12.Â
In 2016 Trojan midfielder Morgan Andrews was named one of three finalists for the prestigious award. Andrews, along with Kayla Mills were both named to the watch list at the beginning of last season.
Prisock, who was been an everday starter since her freshman year, is now the anchor of a Trojan defense that was one of the staunchest in the country in 2016. Prisock helped anchor the back line that only allowed nine goals in 19 games, the stingiest defense in the conference. Behind Prisock the Trojans ended the season with 12 shutouts, the most in program history and the most in the Pac-12 last season. She was also aa big part of the team-record seven-game shutout streak, over which they did not allow a goal in 729 minutes.
Prisock was named to the Pac-12 All-Freshman Team in 2015 as a true freshman. She also earned Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week honors after the Trojans defeated Loyola Marymount and then-No. 8 North Carolina last season for the first time in her career.
The MAC Hermann Trophy Watch Lists are compiled by members of the United Soccer Coaches Men's and Women's NCAA Division I All-America Committees. Fifteen semifinalists will be named for both the men's and women's MAC Hermann Trophy near the end of the college season based on voting by NCAA Division I coaches and from those candidates, three finalists will ultimately be placed on the ballot for the coveted award, announced in early January.
