Gaither 8th In 200m Final, Ali Advances To 100m Hurdles Final At World Championships

Tynia Gaither placed eighth in the women's 200m final and Nia Ali advanced to the women's 100m hurdles final at the 2017 IAAF World Championships in London, England today (Aug. 11).
- Gaither (USC, 2016) took eighth in the women's 200m dash final with a time of 23.07 (+0.8) while representing The Bahamas. She advanced to the final by running 22.98 in the heats and 22.85 in the semifinals. It was her first individual World Championships final.
- Ali (USC, 2011) advanced to the women's 100m hurdles finals tomorrow, by advancing out of the heats and semifinals today. The 2016 Olympic silver medalist Ali took second in her heat and 10th overall with a time of 12.93 (-0.9) in the first round in the morning session. She then returned to the track for the second session to place second in her semifinal heat and fifth overall among the finals qualifiers with a time of 12.79 (+0.5).
