Two young stars sign on to join the USC men next season.
USC men's tennis grows two Trojans stronger next season with the signing of Bradley Frye and Jake Sands to national letters of intent today (Nov. 9), USC head coach Peter Smith has announced.
"I am very excited that Bradley and Jake have made a commitment to our tennis team and university," Smith said of Frye and Sands. "They have had success in high school tennis and in the juniors and are prepared to make the next step to college tennis. They are great kids from great families, and we welcome them to our family."
The top-ranked recruit out of Kansas, Bradley Frye attends the Barstow School and was ranked in the top-15 in the nation in the boys 16s. As a 16-under, he won the Clay Court National Doubles Championship. Also a member of the Junior Culture and Sportsmanship Council, he has also collected international experience at the 2017 ITF Pan American Championships. Additionally, Frye claimed the 2016-17 Class 1 state singles title.
California product Jake Sands ranked No. 1 in Southern California No. 3 in the nation as a 16-under. As an 18-under, he locked in at No. 11 in the nation and No. 2 in SoCal. Standing tall as the 2017 CIF Singles Champion in Ojai, Sands is a two-time All-American out of Palisades High School. While at Palisades, he competed alongside his brother, R.J., who is now playing at Penn. From a strong tennis family, Sands' father Howard was a four-time All-American at Harvard.
Frye and Sands are set to joint Trojan roster as freshmen for the 2018-19 season.
