Gabby Smith's Oracle/ITA Fall National Championship Campaign Closes

On Wednesday (Nov. 1) Trojan senior No. 14 Gabby Smith fell to No. 6 Kate Fahey of Michigan in a tight battle in the first round of the Oracle/ITA Fall National Championship in Indian Wells, Calif.

By reaching the Quarterfinals of the 2017 Riviera/ITA All-American Championships in early October, Smith earned a berth to the Oracle/ITA Fall National Championships.

Fahey defeated Smith with a close 7-6 (4), 6-4 score, which makes her overall record 11-5 for the fall season.

Smith's next action will be tomorrow (Nov. 2) at 8:00 a.m. PT as she enters the consolation bracket.
