Ally Prisock Named Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week
October 24, 2017 | Women's Soccer, Features
Junior helped anchor the Trojans to two road wins last week.
USC junior Ally Prisock has picked up honors as the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week following the Trojans' two key road wins last week. Prisock and the USC back line shut out host Washington and allowed just three shots by the Huskies in the Trojans' 2-0 win in a rainy contest in Seattle. Days later at Washington State, Prisock helped anchor a 2-1 win in Pullman to keep the Trojans' undefeated run through Pac-12 play alive and well. USC held the Cougars scoreless through the last 64 minutes of action to secure the road sweep.
Prisock has started every game this season on the Trojan back line and has been instrumental in USC's stingy defensive efforts this year. Only three Pac-12 teams have managed to crack USC's defense to date as the Trojans have allowed only three goals during conference play en route to their current undefeated 7-0-1 record. That's tacked on to USC's powerful 13-1-1 overall record, which matches the best start to a season in program history, set back in 1997. In all, USC is unbeaten in 12 straight games. Four of USC's seven shutouts on the year have come in Pac-12 play.
This is Prisock's second career selection as Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week, last earned in September 2016. She is the second Trojan to win the award this year, following Erika Okuma's pick last month.
