USC's Trojan Outreach program celebrated the holiday season by hosting numerous events for local children, including A Girls Play Holiday Party and a Boys Holiday Giveaway.
A few members of the football team, including head coach Clay Helton, also recently stopped by a local children's hospital to donate gifts and to invite patients to a USC game next season.
These are just the latest of Trojan Outreach's community events this semester. At the beginning of December, 120 USC student-athletes visited Cochran Middle School for the sixth annual Community Bowl. They spent the day beautifying the campus, which included painting murals, re-netting basketball hoops, refurbishing the community garden and more.
In November, USC women's tennis hosted the fifth annual Rose Cup, which raised approximately $4,000 to fund breast cancer research at USC's Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center.
USC football coaches and players helped serve local families food on Thanksgiving, continuing the tradition of giving back on the holidays. For Halloween, USC baseball participated in Mayor Eric Garcetti's Halloween Spooktacular, where they spent time with local children and handed out posters.
Throughout the football season, Trojan Outreach has used USC's platform to do good in the community. Senior OL Zach Banner was active in USC's partnership with the College Football Playoff's Extra Yard for Teachers Foundation. After paying his respect to the nation's educators in a video message, he partnered with Trojan Outreach to present a $10,000 check to a local elementary school teacher.
Trojan Outreach also treated four people to VIP experiences at USC football games through its Trojan Wish program.
In total, USC student-athletes have volunteered just shy of 1,000 hours and impacted the lives of 1,800 children this semester, with even bigger goals set at the turn of the new year.
