DeSimone/Katz Fall In NCTC Doubles Title Match

USC's Gabriella DeSimone and Zoë Katz had a powerful run at the National Collegiate Tennis Classc come to a close in the doubles title match, where the Trojans squared off against the No. 6-ranked team in the nation. DeSimone and Katz had already topped the No. 1 team in the land in the quarterfinals, but the final proved to be a bigger battle.
Up against Stanford's Davidson/Zhao in the title match, DeSimone/Katz were in stride with the highly ranked Cardinal pair. In the end, however, the Stanford duo won out with a 7-5 decision to take the crown. That match wrapped the weekend's action for the Women of Troy, who were split up between the NCTC and the Freeman Memorial for individual competition.
The Women of Troy now turn to host the ITA Kick-Off Weekend this weekend, bringing to town teams from Pepperdine, Wichita State and Denver from Jan. 24-25. USC will open up against Denver in an 11 a.m. match on Saturday (Jan. 24) to fight for a spot in the championship match at 1 p.m. on Sunday (Jan. 25).
