Saturday May 19, the 1972 USC National Championship Team will be honored before the Trojans game against Arizona at Dedeaux Field. The ceremony will begin at 1:30 p.m. The game will follow at 2 p.m.as senior Andrew Triggs takes on the Wildcats starter Konor Wade.
Former USC head coach and college baseball legend, Rod Dedeaux led the 1972 team to The CWS title, the first school to win three straight baseball titles - despite hitting just .198 for the series. It was USC's eighth of their nation leading 12 national titles.
USC's Russ McQueen the tournament MVP, pitched 14 innings without giving up a run and earned three wins and a save in the CWS. Prior to the CWS, the Trojans defeated Washington State twice for the Pac-8 title, then beat UC Santa Barbara in the twice in the district-8 playoffs.
Sunday, USC will honor its senior graduates with a pregame ceremony beginning at 1:30 p.m.
