WATCH: AMY ON CAMPUS -- PART 1 & PART 2
USC's Amy Rodriguez started collecting championship hardware as a Trojan, her winning efforts spanning the 2007 NCAA Championship with USC before stepping onto the Olympic gold-medal podium in Beijing with Team USA. Now, Rodriguez and her fellow U.S. National Team members are heading to Germany to pursue FIFA Women's World Cup glory.
Rodriguez was a junior on USC's 2007 national championship squad -- the only Pac-10 team ever to win the NCAA women's soccer title. Less than a year later, the All-American also became USC's first women's soccer Olympic Gold Medalist. Now, with her selection to the USA's 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup team, Rodriguez is the first Trojan to play for Team USA at the premier international soccer event, and is looking to become the first to win a World Cup medal. She joins two other Women of Troy to have competed at the World Cup. In 1999, four-time All-American Isabelle Harvey played for Canada, and Susie Mora (Cognetta) played for Mexico.
Rodriguez' cap count with the USA is steadily climbing, as is her scoring tallies. With 62 caps to her name on the way into the World Cup, she boasts 17 goals, including the game-winner during a playoff with Italy to clinch USC's berth to Germany.
The World Cup action starts up soon! Action runs from June 26 to July17 in Germany. Follow Amy and Team USA at the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup at ussoccer.com and at the 2011 Women's World Cup web site.
