Chris Mezger Named District VIII All-Academic First Team

LOS ANGELES -- USC senior pitcher Chris Mezger was one of seven Pac-10 Conference baseball players named to the Capital One All-District VIII teams as announced Thursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Mezger received first team recognition with a 3.78 grade-point-average in linguistics. First-team honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
This season, Mezger is 1-0 with a 6.33 ERA in 16 appearances for the Trojans. In 21 1/3 innings, he has allowed 32 hits with four walks and 11 strikeouts.
