LOS ANGELES - Trevor Hairgrove went 3-for-5 with a double and two RBI Tuesday while Dustin Emmons pitched 6 2/3 strong innings as the UC Riverside Highlanders beat the USC Trojans, 10-6, in a non-conference game at Dedeaux Field. Emmons allowed only two runs and four hits through the first six innings before running out of gas in the seventh.

Ryan Goetz battled Richter in the top of the first on a long at-bat and after fouling off several pitches on a full count, he slammed his second home run of the season with the solo shot to right. Roundtree singled to lead off the bottom of the first, later scoring the tying run on Foat's RBI single to left.
The Highlanders (23-15) took the lead for good when Bryan Horst belted a solo shot to left in the second for the 2-1 advantage. David Andriese's sacrifice fly made it 3-1 in the fifth, but the Trojans tallied a run in the sixth on Alex Sherrod's single. With runners at first and third, Emmons got Adam Landecker to ground into the third out with the putout at second.
Hairgrove doubled to lead off the seventh, later scoring on a wild pitch from reliever Ben Mount. Tony Nix tripled home Goetz and Andriese made it a three-run inning for the Highlanders with a sacrifice fly. USC responded with three in the bottom half of the seventh with RBI singles from Shane Boras and Roundtree and a sacrifice fly from Foat, but Mark Garcia struck out Alex Sherrod for the third out. UCR put the game away with four runs in the eighth off Brandon Garcia, including a two-run single from Justin Shults.
