USC sophomore Jeremy Davie has picked up his first career MPSF Player of the Week award after his all-star effort for the Trojans over the weekend in Berkeley. The sophomore two-meter man served up three goals for the Trojans, including the game-winner, in USC's 9-8 sudden-death win over No. 2 Cal in an MPSF match in Berkeley.
On the way to his first hat trick of the season, Davie got USC a lead in the third period with his first goal, tied up the game 8-8 in the second overtime period to force sudden death, and then delivered the game-ending winning goal with his third score from 2-meters. The rematch of last year's 2010 NCAA final in Berkeley marked USC's fourth win over the Bears in Berkeley in the past three seasons. The Trojans improve to 12-2 overall and are 3-0 in MPSF play with Saturday's win.
Davie is the second Trojan to be named KAP7 MPSF Player of the Week this season, joining fellow Aussie Joel Dennerley as USC honorees to date. Davie and the Trojans continue MPSF play this weekend with a trip to Santa Barbara to face the Gauchos at 12 p.m. on Sunday (Oct. 23).
