Former Track Star Rowan Passes Away

Former USC track star Jack Rowan, 86, passed away last spring. Rowan lettered at USC Track and Field in 1949, 1950, 1951, earnng a USC athletic life pass.
He was co-captain of the 1951 PCC Championship and NCAA championship USC team and a member of both the 1949 and 1950 National Championship Teams as well. An All American, he place second in the pole vault in the 1951 NCAA championship meet and fifth in the 1950 NCAA meet.
He was a most successful track coach at Huntington Beach High School and meet director of the Southern Counties Huntington Beach Relays for over twenty years. Born on the island of Maui, Hawaii, he and his brother Al were both long time members of the Trojan Coaches Club and supporters of USC Track and Field.
