LOS ANGELES -- USC junior right-hander Chris Mezger (Boulder, Colo./Fairview HS) has been named to the 2010 All-Academic District 8 Baseball Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced this week. Mezger becomes the first baseball player to receive the academic honor since Michael Morales in 2002.

Mezger, who has a 3.77 GPA and majoring in linguistics, is 4-0 this season with a 2.38 ERA (34 IP, 33 H, 9 ER, 12 BB, 30 SO, .262 OBA) for the Trojans.
