
Pat Gillick Elected To Baseball Hall Of Fame

LOS ANGELES -- Former USC baseball player Pat Gillick has been elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame, the veterans' committee announced today. Gillick, a pitcher for USC's 1958 national championship team, spent 27 seasons as a general manager in the major leagues and built three World Series champions (Toronto in 1992 and 1993 and Philadelphia in 2008).
He was a pitcher for USC in 1957 and 1958 before moving on to the player development ranks. Currently, Gillick is a senior advisor for the Phillies after a career as a GM for Toronto, Baltimore, Seattle and Philadelphia.
The Chico, Calif., native graduated from USC in 1958 with a degree in business and was a member of the Delta Chi fraternity.
