LOS ANGELES -- USC junior first baseman Ricky Oropesa (Rancho Cucamonga/Etiwanda HS) earned 2011 Louisville Slugger Preseason All-America second team honors as announced by Collegiate Baseball. Oropesa led the Trojans in the triple crown categories last season with a .353 batting average, 20 home runs and 67 RBI.
He hit 22 doubles, recorded a .711 slugging percentage and led the team with seven stolen bases as he earned Baseball America All-America second team honors.
His 20 home runs placed him in a tie for sixth place all-time on the USC single-season list with Jason Lane (1999) while his 22 doubles put him in a tie for fifth place with three other players.
He finished the season with his first three-homer game on May 28 against Washington, the first to do so since Jeff Clement in 2005. He also hit two or more home runs in a game three times during the 2010 season.
USC opens the 2011 season on February 18 with a tournament featuring Cal Poly, North Carolina and Missouri.
