Trojans Open 4th At U.S. Collegiate

Junior Steve Lim and freshman Jeffrey Kang each fired 3-under 69s to lead the USC men's golf team to a strong start in the first round of the U.S. Collegiate Championship at The Golf Club of Georgia in Alpharetta, Ga., on Sunday (Oct. 24).
The Trojans combined for an even 288 four fourth. Texas ran away from the field with a 17-under 271. Texas A&M was second at 4-under 284 with UCLA third at 2-under 286. Virginia was fifth at 1-over 289.
Kang and Lim are tied for second with their 69s, seven strokes behind Georgia Tech's James White, who fired a 10-under 62.
Lim earned his 69 with a four-birdie, 1-bogey day while Kang had six birdies against three bogeys.
Sophomore T.J. Vogel tied for 28th at 2-over 74, sophomore Sam Smith tied for 50th at 4-over 76 and freshman Ramsey Sahyoun is tied for 55th at 5-over 77.
Action continues Monday and Tuesday.
