USC redshirt junior Kyle Sterling has been awarded his first career MPSF Player of the Week honor after punching in a career-high three goals in USC's home opener over the weekend. Sterling tallied his first multiple-goal game of the season in USC's 14-8 win over Pepperdine in the teams' MPSF opener.
Sterling had two goals in USC's run to a 6-1 start against the Waves, and also added an assist to his stats on the game before netting his third goal to open the fourth period. Now with his first career conference award, Sterling holds 10 goals on the season. He is the second Trojan to earn the MPSF weekly honor this season.
USC improved to 9-1 with the win and opens MPSF play at 1-0. The win also extended the Trojans' home win streak to 34 consecutive games as USC aims to stay undefeated at home for a fifth straight season.
Sterling and the Trojans now get ready for a road trip to Northern California, visiting California for a 12 p.m. game on Saturday (Oct. 3) and then playing Pacific at 12 p.m. on Sunday (Oct. 4).
