Four Trojans Earn National Academic Honors

For their academic strengths accompanying their athletic talents as 2008 NCAA Champions, four USC men's water polo players have been awarded national All-Academic honors on the year. Sophomore Devon Borisoff along with freshmen Matt Burton, Joel Dennerley and Kevin May earned 2008 Men's All-Academic accolades from the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches.
Riding highest on the list with Outstanding honors is freshman Matt Burton, who holds a 3.9 GPA. Kevin May is next with Superior honors with his 3.5 GPA. And Devon Borisoff and Joel Dennerley earn Excellent honors with 3.2 and 3.3 GPAs, respectively. All four were active members of USC's 2008 NCAA Championship roster, which powered through the year undefeated for the first time in USC history since water polo became and NCAA sport.
Offensively, Borisoff, Burton and May combined for 35 goals last season. Borisoff tallied 17 of those, with May adding 13 and Burton getting five. Meanwhile, Dennerley shined on the defensive end of the pool as USC's dominating goalie, averaging 8.7 saves per game and just 4.5 goals-against per game for the Trojans. He was also named an All-American and was the MPSF Newcomer of the Year.
