Trojans Add Four Players To 2007 Roster

The USC men's water polo team - NCAA finalists the past two seasons - has added four new standout players to its 2007 roster, head coach Jovan Vavic announced today. USC's newest Trojans are Devon Borisoff, Troy Carter, Tyler McManigal and Nicholas Gray, all of whom have signed letters of intent to join the USC program.
"What we were really looking to bring in this year were a goalie and a lefty and strong drivers," Vavic said. "We got that. We've gotten big guys the last couple years, and with three drivers having graduated (Juan Delgadillo, Thomas Hale and Pavol Valovic) and (goalie Adam Shilling) going to be a senior, we wanted these players. They're all hard-working kids."
Both Devon Borisoff (La Canada HS) and Carter (Damien HS) have experience as members of the U.S. National Youth team. Borisoff has strong defensive skills, while Carter offers up a strong left-handed shot for the Trojans. Goalie Tyler McManigal (Santa Barbara HS) brings his 6-foot-3 frame to the cage, and Nicholas Gray (Mira Costa HS) is a talented driver who was named the CIF Division IV Co-Player of the Year. McManigal was an All-CIF Division II First Team selection as a senior. Borisoff and Carter both were a first-teamers in Division III, with Borisoff's La Canada team reaching the CIF Division II final. McManigal's Santa Barbara High team won the CIF Division III title, and Gray's Mira Costa squad was the CIF Division IV champion.
USC won the national championship in 2005 and reached the NCAA final in 2006, where it fell to California in a last-second decision. The Trojans went undefeated through the regular season for the first time in program history in 2006, holding a 44-game winning streak. USC finished 2006 with a 26-2 overall record.
