USC Soccer Signs Five To Letters Of Intent

"It's an extremely talented group of young women who can all have an immediate impact on the program. We're expecting some very, very good things from this class," Khosroshahin said. "(Former head coach) Jim Millinder has done an excellent job of recruiting these ladies and I'm confident with his eye for talent that these ladies will fit in well to this program."
The five athletes comprise a versatile group of players. Megan Ohai is a midfielder/forward out of Draper, Utah (Alta HS), who also has competed with U.S. youth national teams. Also boasting high-level U.S. experience is defender Kasey Johnson, who hails from Sierra Madre, Calif. (La Salle HS) and has also been in residency camps with the U.S under-21 team. Midfielder Karter Haug comes to USC from Castle Rock, Colo. (Mountain Vista HS), bringing along regional team experience, as does midfielder/defender Ashli Sandoval, from Jamul, Calif. (Granite Hills HS). Midfielder Shannon Lacy hails from one of the top programs in Northern California, coming to USC from Danville, Calif., (Monte Vista HS).
Johnson, Ohai and Sandoval are all ranked as top-75 recruits by SoccerBuzz. Johnson and Ohai are top-30 picks. Johnson has been a pool player with the U.S. under-20 and under-17 squads and was a member of the 2004 U.S. under-16 national team. As a star for La Salle HS, she was selected to All-CIF second and third teams. Ohai's list of accomplishments coming into her USC career include participation on the 2005 U.S. under-16 national team and the 2004 U.S. under-15 national team pool. She's also a NSCAA High School and Youth All-American and was named the NSCAA Utah Player of the Year as well as the Salt Lake Tribune 5A MVP and is a three-time Utah All-State First Team selection. A San Diego-area standout, Sandoval is a U.S. under-17 national team pool player. She was the CIF Division Player of the Year and an all-CIF first team selection, as well as the conference MVP. Haug's Mountain Vista HS team reached at least the state semifinals the past three years, with Haug earning all-state and all-league first team honors the past two seasons and honorable mention in 2004. Lacy boasts plenty of success and experience with her Monte Vista HS squad, which holds first place in its league and was the 2005 NCS champion.
The new class of talent is set to hit the field as Women of Troy for the 2007 season. Last season, USC reached the NCAA Second Round, finishing with a 11-5-1-5 record. The Trojans turned plenty of heads in the postseason, as they upset top-seeded Santa Clara in the first round to end the Broncos' streak of deep runs into the NCAA tournament.
