USC Falls To Oregon State In Final Game, 10-8

CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) - Andy Jenkins hit for the cycle and drove in four runs to lead Oregon State to a 10-8 victory over Southern California on Monday, and its first College World Series since 1952.
Jenkins went 5-for-5 for the eighth-seeded Beavers (46-10), who are in the postseason for the first time since 1986. They will play top-seeded Tulane in Omaha.
Southern California (41-22) has won 12 national championships since 1948, the most recent in 1998.
The Trojans forced the third and deciding game by rallying from an 8-3 deficit for a 9-8, 10-inning victory Sunday night.
USC erased a 7-3 deficit in Game 3 with a four-run sixth inning.
Jenkins, a first baseman, completed his cycle in the bottom of the inning with a triple, and he scored on Shea McFeely's sacrifice fly to make it 8-7. Darwin Barney had an RBI single in the seventh for the Beavers, then scored on Jenkins' second single of the game.
Jenkins' two-run double in the first started the game's scoring.
USC catcher Jeff Clement, taken by Seattle with the third overall pick in the baseball draft, hit a three-run home run to tie it 3-all in the third.
Jenkins put the Beavers, who had 17 hits, back in front in the bottom of the inning with a solo homer.
Reliever Eddie Kunz (2-0) allowed one run and two hits, while Dallas Buck, the Beavers' fifth pitcher, earned the save. Reliever Ryan Schlack (0-2), the fourth of seven USC pitchers, took the loss.
