
Ian Kennedy Invited To 2005 USA Baseball National Team Trials

LOS ANGELES -- USC sophomore right-hander Ian Kennedy (Huntington Beach, Calif./La Quinta HS) has been invited to participate in the 2005 USA Baseball National Team Trials, to be held June 27-30 in Raleigh, North Carolina. The final roster will be announced July 1.
Kennedy was a member of the 2004 U.S. National Team, going 3-1 with a 3.81 ERA. In 26 innings with Team USA, Kennedy allowed 21 hits, walked 10 and struck out a team-high 40 batters with a .219 opponents' batting average. He earned a win against Japan during the FISU II World University Baseball Championships in Taiwan after throwing a no-hitter through 7 1/3 innings.
This season for USC, Kennedy is 10-2 with a 2.55 ERA. In 95 1/3 innings for the Trojans, he has allowed 68 hits, walked 32 and struck out 135 batters with a .201 OBA. He has earned Pac-10 Pitcher of the Week honors twice this season and is a semifinalist for the 2005 Roger Clemens Award, Xanthus-Dick Howser Trophy and Brooks Wallace College Player of the Year Award.
