Women's Tennis Pac-10 Indoor Championship - Final Results

SEATTLE, Wash. - USC women's tennis freshmen Judy DeVera (Carson, Calif.) and Dianne Matias (Torrance, Calif.) represented the Women of Troy in the finals of the Flight II Doubles Bracket at the Pac-10 Indoor Championships being held at UW's Lloyd Nordstrom Tennis Center in Seattle this week. Unfortunately, the duo was defeated by UCLA's Sarah Gregg and Daniela Bercek, 8-2, on Sunday afternoon to complete tournament competition.
DeVera and Matias, who also competed in singles, enjoyed stellar competition en route to the final. The pair defeated Kristen Case and Monica Wiesener of California, 8-5, in the opener, then beat Washington's Mugette Ahn and Dinka Hadzic, 8-4, in Saturday's quarterfinal. Later that day, USC's first-year players got past Washington State's Nora Gaal and Amy Toth, 8-1, to advance to the final.
Junior Luana Magnani, as well as Matias and DeVera, competed in singles. All three players fell in the first round of main draw competition. Matias and DeVera entered the consolation draw, where DeVera defeated Jessie Rochefort of Arizona, 7-5, 6-2, in the opener, then was eliminated Gregg in the semifinal, 7-5, 3-6, 6-4. Matias dropped her consolation first-round match.
