LOS ANGELES - Water polo players Thomas Hale and Matt Norris from Wilson High in Long Beach, Calif., Trevor Clark from Servite High in Anaheim, Calif., Adam Shilling of Bellarmine Prep in San Jose, Calif., and Juan Delgadillo of Harvard-Westlake High in North Hollywood, Calif., have signed letters-of-intent to play at USC, head coach Jovan Vavic announced today.
"This class brings us a lot of depth because all five of them can play right away in our lineup," said Vavic.
Hale scored 79 goals at Wilson last year and was named CIF Division I Player of the Year. He also earned All-CIF-SS and All-Moore League first team honors. His teammate, Norris, registered 29 goals as a defensive specialist and is a two-time All-CIF-SS first team selection. Clark was named CIF Division II Player of the Year after scoring 112 goals. Shilling was named CIF Northern Section Player of the Year. Delgadillo was named Mission League Most Valuable Player and earned All-CIF-SS first team honors.
Hale, Clark and Shilling are currently training with the U.S. Junior National Team.
"It's unusual to have so many high school Players of the Year in one class," said Vavic. "We have never had that before here at USC and I am excited about the future of the program."
The Trojans are coming off a 20-8 season and fifth place finish at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championship.
