Men and Women Close Out Day One of Tennis Championships

OJAI, Calif. - The USC men's and women's tennis teams endured a difficult first day of competition on Thursday, April 24, at the 2003 Pac-10 Championships in Ojai, Calif. All 11 of USC's singles entries were eliminated in the first two rounds.
The Trojans' performances were highlighted by Johan Berg, Parker Collins, Anita Loyola, Maureen Diaz and Bernadette Bayani, who won each of their first round match-ups. All five were eventually eliminated in the second round.
Ruben Torres and Melissa Esmero both pulled out of their respective draws prior to the start of the tournament.
USC must now prepare to bounce back in the Pac-10 Doubles Tournament and Invitational, beginning tomorrow, April 25.
