Powell Enters USC Top 10 With Race At Claremont Relays

The USC men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Claremont Relays this past Saturday and put up several good marks.
Highlights and notes:
Freshman Virginia 'Ginnie' Powell continued to impress, winning the 100m HH in 13.81. That time already puts her in 10th on the all-time Women of Troy list for the short hurdles. It was also an NCAA Regional qualifying mark.
Other winners on the women's side included junior Miya Edmonson, who ran a PR 11.88 in the 100m, freshman Tunisia Johnson in the 400m IH (63.93), senior Spring Harris in the high jump (5-9 3/4), sophomore Tiffany Jones in the long jump (18-5), senior Amy Thiel in the discus (152-8) and junior L'Orangerie Crawford in the hammer (181-2).
On the men's side, sophomore long jumper Allen Simms won the 100m in 11.06, senior Justin Neems won the 3,000m in 8:38.92, sophomore Ken Thomas won the 400m IH in 53.31, senior Julien Kapek won the triple jump with a leap of 51-0 1/4 and freshman Adam Midles won the hammer with a throw of 182-9.
The men's and women's team will be showcased this coming Saturday as USC hosts the Trojan Invitational at Loker Stadium.
