LOS ANGELES - The USC men's water polo team was named as the No. 1 team in the nation Wednesday, according to the latest Collegiate Water Polo Association poll. The Trojans are 6-0 on the season after winning the Southern California Tournament last weekend in Irvine. USC went 4-0 in the tournament with victories over UC Irvine, Navy, UCLA and Stanford. The Trojans defeated Stanford, 9-5, in the championship match for their third tournament title in nine years.
USC will travel to No. 4 UC Irvine for the first Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match of the season on Saturday (Sept. 23) at noon. The Trojans will also play at No. 7 UC San Diego on Sunday (Sept. 24) at noon.
