Women Of Troy Golf Takes Fourth At ASU/Ping Invitational

Tempe, Ariz.- - Three Women of Troy golfers finished in the top 13 to lead the No. 3 USC women's golf team to a fourth place finish at the Ping/ASU Invitational held at Karsten Golf Course in Tempe, Ariz., this past weekend.
USC shot 892 as a team, 20 strokes behind tourney champion Arizona. Host Arizona State finished second (875), followed by New Mexico (889), USC and San Jose State (896). It was the seventh top 10 finish for the Women of Troy out of eight tournaments played in the 1999-2000 season.
Freshman Candie Kung continued her solid play, as she fired a 220 (including a low round of 70) to finish tied for eighth -- her fifth top 10 finish this season. Senior Linda Ishii was a stroke behind at 221 and finished tied for 11th, with freshman Mikaela Parmlid (222) one step behind her in a tie for 13th. Sophomore Leila Chartrand (229) and Yon Yim (236) finished tied for 41st and 71st, respectively, while senior Nicole Dalkas competed as an individual and shot 224, good for a 21st-place tie.
The Women of Troy will next play at the fourth annual Peg Barnard California Collegiate hosted by Stanford in Palo Alto, Calif., on April 15-16 before heading to Eugene, Ore., to compete in the Pac-10 Conference Championships on April 24-26.
