Baseball Game Suspended After Fifth Inning

FULLERTON, Calif. - Today's game between USC and Mississippi State was suspended after the fifth inning with the Trojans holding a 7-1 lead over the Bulldogs. The game will be resumed at 11 a.m. tomorrow, weather permitting. The USC-Cal State Fullerton game is scheduled to now start at 7:30 p.m.
The score was 2-1 in the fifth before a five-run inning by the Trojans. Second baseman Anthony Lunetta is 3-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI while first baseman Bill Peavey is 2-for-3 with two doubles and three RBI. The Trojans chased Bulldogs starter Tanner Brock after four innings, allowing six hits, four runs (all earned) and five strikeouts. Mississippi State was playing in their second game of the day after losing to host Cal State Fullerton, 14-9, in the resumption of a suspended game from last night.
Heavy rains are expected in the Southern California area on Sunday morning. The Trojans will travel to UC Santa Barbara on Tuesday before hosting Houston next weekend at Dedeaux Field.
