STANFORD, Calif. - Edmund Muth hit two home runs for the first time in his career while Joe Borchard drove in five runs Sunday to lead the No. 2 Stanford Cardinal to an 11-4 non-conference win over the No. 12 USC Trojans at Sunken Diamond. Stanford reliever Mike Gosling (1-1) struck out a career-high 12 batters and held the Trojans (14-9) scoreless on two hits in the final 6 and 2/3 innings to record the win.
Beau Craig hit his eighth home run of the season for the Trojans, a two-run shot in the first inning while second baseman Anthony Lunetta hit his team-leading 14th double of the season. Anthony Reyes (2-3) suffered the loss for the Trojans.
USC will host Loyola Marymount at Dedeaux Field on Tuesday. Both teams will resume a suspended game at 4:30 p.m. with the regularly scheduled game to begin following the completion of the suspended game (Feb. 8).
