LOS ANGELES - The USC baseball team got four home runs in two innings, including back-to-back homers by freshman 2B Anthony Lunetta and sophomore DH Bill Peavey in the first to lead the Trojans to a 13-11 victory over the alumni team at Dedeaux Field on Sunday afternoon in the annual game.
USC junior SS Seth Davidson hit a three-run home run and junior DH Josh Persell had a solo shot in the second inning to improve the Trojans lead to 11-2.
But the alumni came back to narrow the Trojans lead to 12-10 in the top of the fifth with help from two homers by catcher Jason Brown (1994-97). Outfielder Ryan Stromsborg (1995-96) also hit a two-run home run for the alumni.
Gabe Alvarez (1993-95), Justin Paperny (1996-98) and Brown, each had two hits for the alumni.
Persell had a team-high three hits, including a single, double and home run for the 2000 Trojans.
The alumni had four current major leaguers on their roster, including Aaron Boone (Cincinnati), Jacque Jones (Minnesota), Geoff Jenkins (Milwaukee), and Gabe Alvarez (Detroit).
The Trojans open the 2000 regular season next Saturday, Jan. 29 against Pepperdine in Malibu at noon.
