Tennis Freshmen Compete At Pac-10 Indoor Tournament

Los Angeles, Calif. -- Freshmen Anita Loyola and Tiffany Brymer competed at the Pac-10 Indoor Tournament this weekend (Jan. 7-9) at Washington's Lloyd Nordstrom Tennis Center.
Loyola entered the tournament as the top-seeded player in Flight II Singles competition. With a bye in the first round, she defeated Darija Klajc of Washington, 6-1, 6-3, in the quarterfinals. Loyola fell to fourth-seeded Abigail Spears of UCLA in the semifinals, 6-2, 7-6 (4). Brymer was defeated by Elizabeth Schmidt of UCLA, 6-2, in the first round of competition.
The duo also competed in the Flight I doubles, but fell to third-seeded Schmidt and Spears in the first round, 8-3.
The Trojans will begin dual match play on Tuesday, Jan. 18 against UC Santa Barbara. The match will be played at the USC Marks Tennis Stadium and will begin at 1:30 p.m.
