Budde Named to College Football Hall of Fame

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Brad Budde, an offensive guard at USC from 1976-79 and the 1979 Lombardi Award winner, was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame on Wednesday.
He was the first (and only) Trojan to win the Lombardi Award. He was a unanimous All-American as a senior and was also the runner-up in voting for the Outland Award. He was a four-year starter who was the first freshman to start a USC season opener since World War II.
The son of ex-Kansas City Chiefs' All-Pro Ed Budde, Brad followed his father there as the Chiefs' first-round pick in 1980. He played there from 1980-86.
Budde was one of 12 players in the College Football Hall of Fame's Class of 1998. The induction ceremony will be Dec. 8, 1998 at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City.
