IRVINE, Calif. - Sophomore midfielder Isabelle Harvey had a goal and an assist as the USC women's soccer team routed No. 21 UC Irvine, 3-0, on Sunday afternoon in Irvine.
USC improved to 6-4-1 and defeated its third Top 25 opponent of the season. UC Irvine, ranked No. 21 by Soccer Buzz, fell to 8-2-1.
Harvey had the game's first goal in the 41st minute as she took a pass from senior midfielder Carol Hatcher, took a dribble to the right and blasted it in from 20 yards out.
USC made it 2-0 in the 52nd minute when senior midfielder Erica De Vitis scored her first goal of the year. A clearing pass was taken by senior defender Meghan Reppe, who passed upfield to De Vitis, who spun and hit a hard shot into the upper right of the net.
The Women of Troy scored their third goal in the 76th minute when Harvey's corner kick was headed in by junior forward Kim Clark.
It was the second straight game that Harvey had a goal and an assist.
Senior goalkeeper Karin Puccinelli had a big game for USC, making nine saves, including a stop of a penalty kick in the final two minutes to preserve the shutout.
The Anteaters actually outshot USC, 17-16.
USC begins Pacific-10 Conference play next weekend at the Washington schools.
