SEATTLE - A three-goal deficit proved to be too much as the USC women's soccer team lost at Washington, 3-2, on Sunday afternoon.
The Huskies (5-6-1 overall, 1-1 in the Pac-10) scored all three goals in a span of 6:02 (at the end of the first half and the beginning of the second) to grab a 3-0 lead.
USC (6-6-1, 0-2) fought back, however, and junior midfielder Kim Clark made it 3-1 at 72:15 with her seventh goal of the season.
Junior defender Christina Kushnir made it 3-2 at 85:34 when she headed in Clark's corner kick. USC tied a school record with 14 corner kicks but only connected on one.
Washington's goals were scored by Gina Brewer at 44:06, Erin Bailey (who played at USC in 1994) at 48:22 and Brewer again at 50:08.
Washington took 20 shots to USC's 13.
USC hosts Stanford and California at the Coliseum next weekend.
