IRVINE, Calif. - Ivan Babic and George Csaszar each scored goals in overtime to lift top-ranked USC over No. 2 UC Irvine, 10-7, in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation water polo at Heritage Park in Irvine Saturday.
The game was tied 7-7 after regulation as UC Irvine's Kevin Brantley scored with 31 seconds left in the fourth quarter.
The Trojans' Babic notched a goal with 1:17 left in the first of two three-minute overtime periods, then Csaszar closed out the scoring with a soft two-point lob shot over UCI goalie Genai Kerr, who came far out of the cage to attempt a steal.
Csaszar ended the day with three goals, including the two-pointer, and USC received two goals each from Babic and Peter Janov. Junior goalie Richard McEvoy had eight saves for the Trojans, who improved to 14-1 overall and 4-0 in the MPSF.
