USC - UCLA Game Quotes

UCLA Head Coach Bob Toledo
"First of all, I'm extremely proud of our football team and staff with their great offensive and defensive plans. Winning eight in a row is the longest streak in the history of the rivalry, which is very special. We've won 10 games in a row the past two seasons."
"All year, everyone said that the other teams should beat us, but nobody has beaten us. We have an opportunity to play in the Rose Bowl, but there's one more opportunity to play in the national championship. I'm proud of where we've been, what we've done, and where we're going."
(About DeShaun Foster): "I'm extremely pleased. He was phenomenal and did a great job as a freshman football player. He was sick with strep throat, and I took him aside and told him every player who's sick plays great. Remember Michael Jordan?"
"We've been good enough to win 20 games in a row, win the Pac-10 and can compete with any team in the nation. If we beat Miami, we'll definitely be in the Fiesta Bowl, in my opinion."
UCLA Quarterback Cade McNown
"The stat of the game was turnovers. When we can force that many turnovers, it puts us in a great position to win games. But we didn't take enough advantage of that, although we look to improve it. Our defense performed much better and showed lots of pressure on a young quarterback."
(On Foster): "No other running back came through like DeShaun. He just goes out there and runs. He's the kind of guy you love to hand to because he always gets the first down."
(On the eight-game winning streak over USC): "It makes for a great reunion. We can talk about never losing to our rivals. When it comes to SC, you have plenty of motivation to just win the football game. It's what's inside and how you play that counts."
UCLA Running Back DeShaun Foster
"We put together a complete game. To get out early and play hard was our basic game plan. I wanted to contribute a little, and I'm glad I did."
USC Head Coach Paul Hackett
(On UCLA): "I think they did a nice job in every phase of the game, particularly on defense. Any time you play a team of UCLA's caliber, you can't turn the ball over, which is what we did on every play. You have to give UCLA credit - they did a nice job. If you can run the ball with a player like No. 18 (Cade McNown) in the backfield you're going to give defenses problems."
"Every time we tried to get something going, we either had a penalty or turned the ball over. We were not at our best today on the offensive side."
(On playing in the Rose Bowl): "It's a hostile environment, and that's a tribute to their fans. UCLA deserves to make a run for the national championship."
"We had a lot of turnovers, but Oregon came in here and had the same thing. It's a tribute to their defense. It's a fine defense out there."
