LOS ANGELES - The defending national champion and preseason No. 1 USC baseball team opens the defense of its title on Tuesday (Feb. 2) when the Trojans host Cal State Dominguez Hills at Dedeaux Field at 3 p.m.
USC is coming off a 49-17 season that saw the Trojans capture their 12th NCAA title, more than twice as many as any other school.
Junior catcher Eric Munson, Collegiate Baseball's Preseason National Player of the Year, leads the way for the team. Munson batted .392 with 16 home runs and 56 RBI last season.
The Trojans are already a bit shorthanded, as senior lefthanded pitcher/first baseman Jason Lane (broken thumb) and sophomore shortstop Seth Davidson (broken jaw), two of USC's six returning starters, suffered injuries in the preseason and will miss at least the season opener.
Admission at Dedeaux Field is $5 for adults and $4 for children.
USC follows the Cal State Dominguez Hills game with a three-game trip to Texas on Feb. 5-7.
