No. 5 USC Comletes Sweep of North Carolina

HOMESTEAD, Fla. - No. 5-ranked USC topped North Carolina, 10-2 Sunday afternoon at the Homestead Sports Complex in Homestead, Fla. as part of the Homestead Challenge Tournament. The victory was the 2,00th collegiate win in Trojan history (USC has a 2,000-955-17 lifetime record).
USC swept the three-game series against North Carolina.
Junior lefthander Jason Saenz pitched a career-high 6 and 2/3 innings and struck out a career-best seven batters en route to his first collegiate victory. Saenz, who allowed two earned runs on four hits and three walks, is now 1-1 on the season.
Senior ace reliever Jack Krawczyk pitched the final 1 and 1/3 innings to record his third save (and 29th of his career).
Trailing 2-1 in the fifth, USC led off with a walk by Greg Hanoian and then posted back-to-back doubles by Robb Gorr and Eric Munson to accout for the tying and go-ahead runs.
USC returns to action Wednesday (Feb. 18) at Cal State Fullerton at 7 p.m.
